It is finally here!
The BConnected Conference is on now. It has been a year in the making and it is time to enjoy the moment. A quick check in at the Marriott Courtyard, a bite to eat with friends in the hotels’ restaurant and I am ready to go!
Here is what happened after Day 1!
Ottawa Tourism was kind enough to fill our first night with local ghost stories, food, beer and a chance to explore Ottawa’s famous Byward Market. Tonight was officially one of the most fun ice-breakers I have ever been a part of.
The Haunted Walks of Ottawa offered a choice of two of their walks and my choice of Ghosts and the Gallows was an easy choice for me. Having lived in Ottawa for many years, it was time I visited this very popular attraction. Did you know the Old Carleton Jail is not only the most haunted place in Ottawa, or Canada? The jail is the most haunted place in North America and it did not disappoint. Sound carries oddly in the jail. You can hear things, like people talking in a stairway, even when you are a great distance away. Eerie is not the right word to use… a heavy sense of dread and uneasy overcame me in the main jail area. I am queazy just thinking about it. Even if you are a little chicken, I would recommend heading out on one of their tours.
Once the tour was over we headed over to the Lowertown Brewery for some food, beer and socializing.
Here are photos of some of the food Ottawa Tourism had ready for our arrival. Everything was delicious and that means hubby and I will be back because he loves a good chicken wing and these were soooo good. Plus take a look at the website and take a peek at The Butcher’s Experience. I will be ordering that!!
We were all giving a ticket for a free beer, wine or liquor drink. The blogger to my right ordered a Waupoos Apple Cider and I thought I should give it a try. Huh. Apparently I like apple cider. Who knew?I also learned I like Waupoos Apple Cider. I love learning new things about myself. 🙂
All in all a fantastic night and a great start to the conference!! Thank you to BConnected and Ottawa Tourism.
