Holy birthday, Batman! If your child loves Batman, save his birthday by celebrating with a Batman themed party!
We’re sharing tips from Jennifer Carver, of Spaceships and Laser Beams, for throwing your little caped crusader a Batman birthday party full of action-packed, crime-fighting fun. Get ideas for invitations, party décor and refreshments!
“Calling all superheroes” to your party should be done creatively to incite curiosity and excitement. One way to accomplish this is to send out the bat signal via a paper invitation requesting all caped crusaders to congregate at the guest of honor’s “bat cave”. Invite guests to dress up as their favorite superhero or provide them with a superhero mask and/or cape to wear to the party.
Guests will love getting their “boom”, “pow” and “wow” on at a party decorated to look like Gotham City! Recreate the cityscape by wrapping recycled boxes of varying shapes and sizes in colored wrapping paper, or make a 2-dimensional city from butcher paper and use temporary tape to hang it to your wall. The cityscape would make an awesome dessert table backdrop or photo booth! Cut the bat signal from vinyl or construction paper and affix to black balloons to bring in more of the theme. Create word bubble props with favorite Batman inspired words like, “pow”, “wham” and “zap”. These can be pushed into Styrofoam filled boxes and used as centerpieces and can double as props in a photo booth. Many party stores sell Batman party plates, cups and napkins which can add a fun thematic look to a dining tablescape.
After a day of crime fighting, your caped crusaders will definitely be famished! Tickle their taste buds with a themed cake, cupcakes and treats. Fondant figures and shapes can be added to a homemade or store-bought cake, or action figures can be used as a fun cake topper. Printable Batman themed toppers can be printed, affixed to toothpicks or sucker sticks and added to cupcakes to pack a punch. Including cookies frosted to look like the famed superhero would also be a great fixture on the dessert table. Don’t forget the bat juice or energy water—crime fighting can cause quite a thirst! Printable beverage labels will add a custom touch that helps tie in the theme.
Planning a Batman themed birthday party sounds like a lot of fun, doesn’t it? Tying in a few simple ideas from this popular comic book hero will transform an ordinary party into a superhero’s dream come true!
