The idea of having my groceries done for me is very appealing. I would even happily give up my “never take the first item on a shelf” rule if someone else was the one walking the aisles and waiting in line to check out. When I was invited to try Click & Collect, a new service now available in Ottawa, I was quick to accept!
What is Click & Collect?
Here’s how it works:
- Go online to shop.loblaws.ca and select your nearest Loblaws store
- Choose a pickup time that’s convenient for you
- Shop online for everything you need
- Pick up your order at your local store
The whole experience exceeded my expectations.
The app is simple to navigate and helps to make your shopping experience quick and easy. A credit card needs to be kept on file. Loblaws will only accept Visa and Mastercard and I am an American Express card holder so I had to use hubbys’ Visa (no charges will be added) to hold my order. The options of payment are the same as in-store. If you are paying by credit or debit you can pay right from the designated pick up area and if you are paying cash or gift card you will have to go in to pay.
As soon as you arrive to your Loblaws store it is easy to spot the Click & Collect parking spots. There is a sign with the phone number to call to let the store know you have arrived. Within minutes your order will be loaded into your car and off you go. Everyone I dealt with, from the phone call to the gentleman loading my groceries, were happy, polite and very courteous. I will sooo appreciate this service when the snow is flying and the temperature reads -40′!
3 Reason Why You Should Use Click & Collect!
1) Click & Collect Will Save You Money
There is a $3 to 5$ pick up fee for the Click & Collect service, so you may be thinking, “Shannon! How is it going to SAVE me money if it COSTS me money?”. Two words: impulse buying. The big difference in my groceries when I Click & Collected was that I had purchased only the things on my list. The grocery list was made from my meal plan for the week, I added some snacks, so the total cost was less than when I do the groceries myself.
2) Click & Collect Will Save You Time
With Click & Collect you can do your groceries from the comfort of your own home at your own pace. Cruising the grocery aisles while your kiddos are watching a favorite movie, you are waiting for pickup after practice or school, on your lunch break (or not, I won’t tell!) or late at night while feeding the newborn will save you time for things you would rather be doing.
Our order was placed on Friday and I chose a pick up on Sunday afternoon. While my groceries were being collected for me, I was able to meet an old friend for dinner. Our kids got together and caught up while we enjoyed a nice cold bevie. On Sunday, my husband and I walked to our favorite breakfast spot then on to our towns annual Street Bazar. While we were on our way to pick up the eldest from a sleepover, we stopped at our Loblaws to pay for and pick up our groceries. So easy.
3) Click & Collect Will Save You
I don’t know about you but the idea of leaving the grocery aisle and lineup part of grocery shopping to someone else is sublime. Imagine having your groceries ready for pick up on your way to the cottage, camping, out-of-town sports tournament or epic road trip, getting you out of the city quickly on a busy Friday! I can’t wait to use Click & Colelct for my Thanksgiving groceries. ALWAYS a busy day!! Click & Collect will free up some more “you” time. Grab a cup of coffee and cruise your local park instead of the grocery aisles. Or catch a yoga class. The choices are endless.
What will you do with your free time thanks to Click & Collect?
