Having sporting events that are away from home, many times a year, always has me searching for food that is healthy and that travels easily. Surprisingly, with the exception of a few regattas, most sporting events have on site food for sale that is not all that appetizing or healthy. The other option of heading to a restaurant for a team meal has lost its appeal over the years. Waiting over 2 hours for mediocre food that can easily cost over $100? No thanks.
An easier, healthier and more cost-effective choice is to bring our own food. With a little thought and planning, we enjoy healthy (or healthier) foods while on the road. Much better to fill the kiddos up with a healthy wrap sandwich before heading to the arena than opting for some fries or a hot dog (gag!).
The apple cinnamon energy bites are a great addition to our tournament weekends. The apple cinnamon taste is a favourite with the whole family and travels great. Make extra for sharing with your teammates.
