What is Pound Puppies: A Perfect Match all about:
This version of the Pound Puppies series is about a band of puppies helping other animals find happy homes for their furry friends. Within these five episodes on this DVD, the gang had to find a home for an “un-matchable puppy,” help a kitten when cats are supposed to be their sworn enemies, a shy puppy come out of his shell while on a camping trip with scouts, a proud furless dog regain his confidence, and help figure out why a newspaper delivery paper girl was not delivering her papers on time.
What Parents Should Look Out For In This Film:
Negative “Schoolyard Behaviour” – There was some name-calling, shoving, and a bit of cattiness between some of the characters during one of the episodes.
What We Thought of Pound Puppies: A Perfect Match:
The episodes were okay, but not fantastic for me. I was not a fan of the animation style the animators were trying to achieve. For me, the Pound Puppies did not have a “cute and cuddly” quality, but more of a “rough and tumble” look. Maybe it was because these puppies were conducting missions during each episode instead of just getting into
shenanigans at their pound.
I liked some of the episodes on this DVD. The best one was “Beauty is Only Skin Deep.” This episode was my favourite because it teaches its young viewers that you have to look beyond what you see in front of you to discover how great others can be. This went both for humans and the pups involved.
My favourite characters from this series were Lucky and Cookie. Lucky is the leader of this band of pound puppies, and he usually gave out good advice to both pups and humans. Cookie was Lucky’s second-in-command. She was a sassy pup who was not afraid to let you know what was on her mind.
For my kids, it was a hit! Since they are in love with dogs, they were glued to our TV screen, watching every bit of the action that took place during each episode. Once the DVD was over, my younger daughter requested that we replay it so she could see the “doggies” again!
My Rating of Pound Puppies: A Perfect Match – 3 out of 5. The whole family can sit down and enjoy this DVD, but your kids will be the ones to really get a kick out it!
