Our youngest, Miss T, has been asking to adopt a kitty for a few years now. We were always able to appease her with promises of “Someday…” until I ran in to Walter. Miss T and I have been stopping by our local pet store to meet the cats they have up for adoption. The pet store is home to up to 3 cats at a time that are available for adoption from the Lanark Animal Welfare Society (L.A.W.S.). My latest visit I met Walter and fell in love with him. Later that night I brought the family and we all agreed that Walter was the one for us.
Walter has adjusted really well. We were a little nervous bringing Walter home to meet our rescue lab Bella but there was no need to worry. Walter and Bella met unceremoniously in the entry way of our home and have continued to respect each others space. Well, that is not all true. Walter likes to make sure that Bella knows he is here with subtle reminders. A run by swat of the hind quarters, some stolen food and sneak attacks while Bella is snoozing. Bella is being tolerant of it all. 🙂
Walter has grown especially attached to Miss T, always by her side, on her pillow or sleeping under her bed. Miss T has proudly declared since she was about 4 years old “One day I will have a cat and call him Frank!”. Well… that is mostly right… we call him Walter and we are pleased to have him.
