I am lucky enough to live within driving distance of Gatineau Park in Québec. The park is one of my favourite places to take the family out for a hike. Fall is the perfect time to go because you can enjoy all the fall colours, the fresh air and time spent with the family. Gatineau Park is not only for us fall hikers. Boating, fishing, rock climbing, biking, cross country skiing and picknicking are all available within the Park. There are also many lookouts, attractions, and beaches to check out. A destication with lots to offer. The day we set out to Gatineau Park, we were rewarded with clear and sunny skies and views like these…
The above photo was taken on the side of the road! Can you believe it? Luckily my husband and kiddos are used to me screeching “Stop! Perfect photo!” even if they do groan a little.
This is what my youngest is calling the colour hill. So beautiful!
Champlain Look out gives you a birds eye view of the landscape. A must see for everyone in the Ottawa area in the fall!
Meech Lake is beautiful and entices the avid canoeist even in the brisk fall weather. Can you believe we ever saw some brave souls swimming?! Brrrr… not for this family. Our in-water activities are done for the year, we prefer off-water activities in the fall. Gatineau Park boasts over 165 kilometres of hiking trails, with something for everyone whether you are a beginner or an avid hiker. We did nothing close to the 165 kilometres. 🙂
I am partial to the trails with the biggest reward… like fabulous views from the lookouts! Most of our family hikes are us parents trying to keep up with the kids. I think on our next hike we will try some Geocaching and we may bring along our dog Miss Bella as well. There is so much to discover at the Gatineau Park! If you are ever in the Ottawa-Gatineau region you should check it out!
Fall also means that my favorite jeans, sweaters and boots come out. Have you been to Mark’s lately? They have the best selection of boots at great prices. The fall selection is stocked full of booties, knee highs and hiking boots. I am partial to the bootie like below. Perfect paired with jeans and a cozy over sized sweater. Add a flavoured latte and I am not soooo sad to say goodbye to summer and welcome fall.
Oh and in case you were wondering….
I totally went with the red! And I may go back for these slip on western style boots.
