I may have lost a chore to the family. Really I should not complain, as it is one of the chores that needs to get done but I oh so can’t stand it. I have long been known, among friends and family, as the vacuum killer. I have been going through at least one every six months. Between the dog fur and regular dirt there just was not a vacuum that could stand up to me including a central air vacuum. That is until the delivery of a package last month.
My mother was visiting when the package arrived from Home Outfitters. The package was a Dyson DC78 Animal that I was to review. My mother almost shrieked and I am pretty sure the kids did. As a review blogger I have a set order in how I do my reviews. Pictures are always first. Product in box, product being assembled, first use of shiny new product and well you get the idea. I had no chance for any of these photo ops with my new Dyson. The family ripped into the box like frenzied animals! Before I knew it the Dyson was assembled and running! I sat on my couch amazed at the sight of my daughters taking turns vacuuming the living room, stairs, entry way and even our beloved pup Miss Bella. When hubs got home from work the girls reluctantly handed the new machine over to him to try. I can truly say that I hated vacuuming… until I was finally able to take a turn with my new Dyson DC78 Animal.
The difference is immediately obvious when I started using the Dyson DC78. The way it moves and turns with little effort makes getting the job of vacuuming done quickly. I appreciate how light (less than 8kg) the unit is. It made it easy to move around and get to all corners of the house. The auto retractable plug is pretty handy too.
DC78 Turbinehead Animal comes with a Tangle-free Turbine tool, Articulating hard floor tool, Groom tool and a Stiff bristle brush.
Tangle-free Turbine tool
I call this one the monster and it is perfect for cleaning the couch and its cushions. I also use it when I want to really get the stairs done. You will be surprised at what this monster will suck out of your couch and stairs.
If you own a dog then the groom tool is a fabulous reason to get the Dyson DC78 Animal. We used to groom our Miss Bella outside because the fur really flies! The fur would be all over the room and ourselves if we did it indoors.
With this groom tool the brushed off fur gets sucked away! When the tool is in use a button is pressed to expose the “teeth” for brushing. The fur gets stuck in the “teeth” and there is no need to collect the balls of fur because when the button is released the fur gets sucked away! AMAZING!
The first time I tried to use the groom tool Miss Bella was a little apprehensive and wanted nothing to do with it. She even scurried away to the safety of her kennel.
I used the tool alone and then gradually introduced the tool with the Dyson on. Now she is a happy groomed pup!
One other thing to consider with the Dyson DC78 Animal is that there is no need to purchase bags and filters. There is no filter to wash… hooray! The suction lasts as Dyson explains on their website; “54 of Dyson’s smallest and most efficient cyclones generate powerful centrifugal forces to separate more microscopic particles than any other cyclone. High-frequency oscillating tips vibrate to prevent the cyclone aperture clogging.” I can tell you that I appreciate every one of those 54 cyclones!
I am an #athomeinsider and was provided the vacuum by Home Outfitters in order to facilitate this review.
