Spring Cleaning the Car Trunk #CollectiveBias

Today is the first day that I truly believe that spring is finally here. I sent the kiddos off to school without snowpants and winter coats. Hubby and I took a drive out to the cottage to take a look around and make sure everything is safe and sound. Hubby and I even stopped at a chip wagon for a quick-lunch. All sure signs that spring is here!

While we were cruising about town today we stopped at Canadian Tire to get some ideas on how to spring clean the trunk of my car. Another sure sign of springs arrival is that a lot of items have collected in the trunk. It is time to remove the snowbrush, hockey pucks, emergency shovels and make way for soccer gear, beach items and cottage weekend essentials. I definitely need to clean out the winter junk so that there is room for all the items we use for spring activities.

Here is an “before photo” of my trunk. It is embarrassingly messy.

That is odd. I seem to have trouble uploading this horribly embarrassing photo! Take my word for it…. it is a horrid mess.

While shopping the automobile and storage aisles of Canadian Tire I came across some really great organization ideas. I found two in particular that I knew would work perfect in my car trunk. The Rubbermaid Auto Mobile Triple Cargo Organizer is my new favorite thing. It is sturdy, folds up when not in use, fits the back of the trunk perfectly, it even has front pockets for small items. This item was on SALE! Score!

The second item I found was the Auto Trends Trunk Cargo Organizer. This one is smaller and will keep all our emergency items together and easy to find. This organizer has adjustable hooks that provide a secure fit and prevents the organizer from tipping over. Perfect for extra washer fluid, first aid kit and a few tools.

When I arrived home I quickly emptied the car trunk. Oddest item I found? My youngest daughters camp chair that I thought was lost. Once all the clutter was gone I set hubby to work vacuuming the carpet.

Once the carpet was vacuumed I placed the organizers in place and what a difference they make! The best part? The organizing of the trunk has inspired my hubby to tackle the garage. Best trip to Canadian Tire ever!

Is your trunk organized or is it a disaster like mine was?

  1. My car is in desperate need of spring cleaning. I was hoping to get to it this weekend but the weather isn’t cooperating.
