Host a Kids Gingerbread House Decorating Party

One of my good friends, M, is THE mom that will always host fun parties like a gingerbread house making party. Most are frightened of the thought of having six+ kids under the age of 9 excitedly sorting through candies and being in control of icing bags.  M is not afraid of the mess.  M wants her kiddo to experience it all and to have fun with his friends doing it.  We can all learn to let go and relax a little from M.

Things that she had on the ready:

M had taken all the gingerbread houses out of their boxes. All the gingerbread houses were at the ready for her lil guests. What a trooper! To see all those clean houses waiting to be decorated was like the calm before the storm. Lovely!

M also had icing at the ready in icing bags as well as some tubes of colored icing ready for decorating.  The younger little ones needed a little help with the icing.  I brought along some sprinkles that I had for cookie decorating.  Everything is better with sprinkles…. right?

The candy used for decorations including:

  • jelly beans
  • sprinkles
  • candy canes
  • gummy bears
  • smarties
  • gumballs
  • and more candy, candy, candy!!

The kids all had a blast decorating and eating the candy. And you know what? Nothing of Ms was ruined, stained or covered in icing when it was all over. The older kids helped the younger ones and everyone had a blast.  The kids were all very proud of their creations.

Memories made. Thank you M.

Even the dogs were sharing.

Relax. Enjoy the season and all it brings along with it.
