I had the pleasure to share a fabulous dinner at the restaurant Citrus which is located in The Grand Hotel in Toronto, Ontario. I will share more about this fabulous hotel in a later post. I wanted to dedicate a whole post to the meal that I shared with fellow bloggers Ginger Mommy and Maple Leaf Mommy as it truly deserves the attention.
The service was top-notch at Citrus. We were well taken care of and our server was attentive, cheerful and knowledgeable about the menu. The over all ambiance of Citrus has a relaxed elegance that is perfect for a girls night out or an intimate date night.
The menu at Citrus is so refreshing. I love flavour. I love a Chef who is not afraid to use flavour. Chef Daniel Marchetti has created exciting and imaginative combinations on a menu that truly excited me. It was hard to narrow down my order but I decided on the “ROASTED CHICKEN BREAST with Puntanesca Tart, Tarragon Jus, Basil Olio and Micro Seedling Salad” because I love tarragon! The chicken was perfect, the jus delicious and the tart and salad were the perfect accompaniments.
My friend Maple Leaf Mommy ordered some Sushi by Eddy. Eddy has his fresh sushi bar set up at the entrance to Citrus and shows off his creations Monday to Thursday nights. Boy were we lucky to be dinning there on a Wednesday night! Eddy has been making sushi since 1984 so he has a creative, delicious and beautiful grasp on his craft that is reflected in his menu. The pride in his work is evident in the finished product. We were lucky enough that he shared a fabulous roll created just for us and hand delivered himself. Beautiful and delicious!
Next was dessert. What were we thinking? Dinner and sushi satisfied this girl fully but I could not pass up this up this fresh mille feuille made with fresh figs, mascarpone cheese and garnished with pine nuts and a balsamic reduction. I ordered it to go so I could
devour savour it in the privacy of our suite.
The best nights out with your friends are the little touches that make it special. Our dinner out to Citrus at The Grand is Toronto was filled with those little touches. I will definitely be returning…. soon.
